High-risk patient handling tasks can lead to work-related musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) for perioperative registered nurses and other members of the perioperative team. Seven clinical tools, or algorithms, were developed by the AORN Workplace Safety Task Force and a panel of experts to guide ergonomic workplace safety in the perioperative setting. The seven clinical tools, the rationale for their development, and the calculations supporting them were combined into the guidance statement reproduced in its entirety in this publication.
